Just a few more and we should all be fine.

A case for increasing government regulations in every area of our lives.

"It is not the function of our government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error."
-- U.S. Supreme Court in American Communications Association v. Douds.

"I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by the gradual and silent encroachment of those in power, than by violent and sudden usurpation."
President James Madison (1751-1836) speech, Virginia Convention, 1788

"It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government."
Thomas Paine

"The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first."
-- Thomas Jefferson

Where's the "like" button? Thanks for those quotes, brother.

I heard a pretty good one this week that expresses my feelings about a lot of political/ethical/religious discussions that I encounter:
"The problem with liberals isn't that they are ignorant; it's that they know so much that isn't so."

I don't think he was being a hater, he was merely pointing out that most so called "liberals" do not believe in the principles of the founders and would not agree with the things they said or wrote.

Well, it seemed rude to call out liberals. He could have just let the quotes speak for themselves and let people that don't agree say they don't agree with Paine and Jefferson and the court.

You're right El Cid.

Don't be a hater pipes.

I really didn't intend for the quote I posted to be in relation to what Jamie posted either... just another quote with some truth in it.

And actually I feel my heart is pure in this case. I don't think I am being a hater.

I simply feel that whoever we would call or whoever would name themselves liberal, a democrat, or progressive or some other similarly associated term found in pop culture rarely operates on reality, but instead focuses on an ideal. When I enter into debates/discussions I find thier arguments to be based on "so much that isn't so."

And "ignorant" is taken very harshly in our society because we desire so greatly to be, or to be seen, as having it all together. In this case, that word is really a compliment. I don't think people ignorant just because they disagree with me. I think they are uninformed or biased to untrue positions due to, as I said, the pursuit of ideals.
